Starlight Spectacular

At midnight last night Darrin and I started our 14 mile bike ride through Garden of the Gods and Colorado Springs. We have spent the last week preparing for our big ride. We trained by going on a leisurely ride through the neighborhood, buying padded underwear, and of course eating a carb'd filled dinner. :) I know, it was intense.

After, very easily, being talked into doing the ride we ended up having tons of fun. We even enjoyed riding in the rain. By the time we were done Darrin and I were soaked but felt accomplished. That definitely was the farthest/longest either one of us have ever been on a bike. We'll have to see if we participate next year ... Just kidding we'll be there.

Congratulations Graduate!

At the begining of May, Darrin graduated for College. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Adminstration. I am so proud of him! And I know he is so excited to be done with school.

New York, New York

Back in January Darrin surprised me with a trip to New York City for our anniversary. I had wanted to go to NY for a while and was so excited. It was a great surprise. We were total tourist while we were there. We did every tourist thing possible. Here's a recap of our trip.

We started our trip by visiting the Empire State Building. It was awesome to see just how big the city really is. The view was amazing!

That same day we went on a tour of NBC studios. While waiting for our tour to start, we got tickets to see Jimmy Fallon practice his monologue. We weren't able to get into the actual show, but the monologue was fun and Jimmy Fallon was really great with the crowd. After the tour, we went to the Top of the Rock (top of Rockefeller Center). The view of Central Park was awesome. Its crazy that there is such a beautiful park in the middle of just massive buildings.

Our trip to NY wouldn't have been complete without a visit to the Hershey's store. Those of you that know Darrin, know he loves Reeses. He was absolutely in heaven when this picture was taken. We bought a couple of Reeses memorabilia mugs and bowls, plus 2 half pound Reeses Cups. Can you believe that? A Reeses cup that is half a pound of peanut butter and chocolate.

On Friday morning, we started out our day by visiting the Today Show. I love the show and watch it every morning. We waited outside for about an hour before some of the crew came out. If you look really carefully in this picture you can see Matt Laurer's head.

After the Today Show, we did the ultimate tourist thing. We went straight to the Statue of Liberty. It looks so big in pictures and I always imagined it was huge, but in reality its not that big. We did get the chance to climb the 320 plus steps into the crown of the Statute. It was awesome to be inside the Statute of Liberty and to see/feel how the Statue was built.

I think this was Darrin's favorite part of the trip. Recently he has invested in the stock market and likes to tell me how much or little we are making in "the market." It was fun to see the hussle and bussle of Wall Street on a work day.

On Sunday, we went to a Yankee's game. Yankee Stadium is amazing. It is massive and the fans are so much fun. I know that not everyone likes the Yankee's but it was fun to be a part of classic American baseball for the day.

Our last stop was in Central Park. The Park is amazing. It is really beautiful. Crazy that it is in the middle of such a huge city.

Darrin and I had a great time. The City was awesome and we had so much fun. I can't wait to see how he surprises me next year :)

You've All Been Waiting

Here are the pictures of Darrin after the surgery.

After the surgery, Darrin's face was pretty swollen. During his follow up appointment, the doctor said that blood was leaking into the incision from a siliva duct in Darrin's mouth. The doctor drained the blood and then had to give Darrin a botox shot to stop the leaking. I love that Darrin had botox. I think its hilarious! I hope all of you get as much joy out the botox story as I do.

THANKSGIVING!

Darrin and I spent Thanksgiving in Utah with our families. It was so good to go home and see everyone. It seems that everytime I go home, I think about how much fun it would be to live closer to home. Darrin and I definately miss all our friends and family.

We did have a great time while we were home. We obvioulsy ate too much, which I have written off as just being just part of Thanksgiving.

On Thursday night, Darrin and I decided we wanted to go the midnight opening of Toys R Us. We thought it would be fun to have the experience of midnight shopping on Black Friday. When we arrived at the store the line was crazy long. We thought we would just wait it out because we were'nt trying to get all door busters, so we just waited in the car for about 50 minutes. When the doors finally opened at midnight the store employees were only letting in 20 people at a time. I guess there was a real reason for the line:) After napping in the car for an hour, we realized we were never going to get in and so we decided to go home and to bed. We did however, return on Friday during the day and completed almost all of our Christmas shopping.

On Saturday; Darrin went with my Dad, Gabriel, and Darrin's HS friend to the BYU/Utah game. Neither Darrin or I have any loyalties to either school, but it was a good game and that is what made it fun. I especially enjoyed watching my Mom get so excited over any little thing and then literally jumping up and down when BYU won.

We had an awesome trip and can't wait to go back for Christmas.

Dime Size Pieces

As many of you know, Darrin has been has been pulling wood out of his face for over a year now. Finally, on Monday, Darrin had surgery on this face. The Dr. pulled out two dime size pieces of wood. It just seems so crazy that he has had that much wood in this face and for so long. The incision is about an inch and half on the right side straight down. He is still pretty swollen but doing okay. Over the last couple of days he has started to bruise pretty bad. As soon as Darrin puts the pics on our computer I will post them so everyone can see.

Darrin and I have had a busy week. For Darrin's birthday this year, I bought Darrin tickets to the home season opener for the Denver Broncos. It was the first time either one of us had been to a professional football game. It was a beautiful day, breezy, but nice. We really had a great time.

Also, this week I found out that I received a promotion at work. I will be prosecuting juvenile offenders. I am really excited about this move. It will be totally different from what I have been doing but I'm really looking forward to the change. I think this will be a great opportunity for me.

Then the craziest thing happened. Darrin and I were doing yard work and we found a bat attached to our patio, between the landscaping rocks and the patio. It was the first time I had ever seen bat in real life. It was a little freaky. Here are the pics...
